Here we are on the River Walk in Little Rock.

Back to school night is getting bigger, but at the same time getting smaller. We were missing quite a few faces, including Gabe, but he is there. I think he is messing with Grandpa. I had a great time, but missed all the old faces. I hope your back to school night was just as fun!!!
Today I was upstairs reading, because of the rain I could not walk the dogs. I didn’t want to walk the dogs. I heard this noise, it sounded like the fan. It was a sort of a whirring sound. I thought it could have been a distant car alarm. I dismissed it and got ready for my day, then went downstairs. I still heard the sound, looked up at the kitchen fan, it was not on. I opened the back door. It was raining pretty hard, but I could still hear the alarm. Is it someone’s car alarm? No, it has been going on for at least an hour. People are still asleep. Should I call the police? Maybe it’s my neighbor Jane, because it was coming from that direction. I have to check it out, but first an umbrella. It sounds like it is coming from my neighbors back yard. I am worried now, should I call the police? No, I have to find the source. I come back to my yard while talking to my husband and spy an AT&T flag. Is it the AT&T cable? I look at the flag and no it is coming from a bush. For a second I think alien. I look into the ivy and peer down inside it, expecting something to explode or jump out at me……..
Who would have known?

Last year, as you all know, I was supposed to go for my colonoscopy. Well, I managed to delay it till this year, when my insurance would be better. I finally got it done. It wasn’t too bad, especially since I can only remember getting to lay in a bed with a warm blanket while nurses mothered me (I haven’t had that for a long time). The drinking bit wasn’t too bad either. I think the trick is that you don’t eat too much the day before you have to drink all that water. Well I got a clean bill a health and it looks like I won’t get to do that fun thing again for some time.

Last Friday we went to Third Friday in Overland Park. It is the city’s art walk. We had gone to one before, but the weather wasn’t really great. This time the weather was nice and there were more merchants and a gallery open. They had two jazz bands. When we went into the gallery I signed up for a door prize. Guess what? I won a door prize! It was this little water color by Dawn Thomas. I am quite pleased. We had a good time and will go next month, too. Oh, yeah, I bought a pair of dragon fly earrings, also.

I received a lot of nice things for my birthday. Rachel and Travis sent me Godiva. Adam and Nina bought me a nice set of mugs with Cardinals on them and some Nordstrom Cafe Tomato Basil soup. Amber and Aaron bought me a gift certificate to Pets Smart to get Queequeg all dolled up. Seth met me for lunch in St. Louis on my way back from Paducah. Paul bought me the iPod mini touch. I was greatly in need of that, because my battery on my original iPod was failing. Thank you all for making my birthday a fun day!

I got dad to go to the ballpark on Wednesday. Jim gave us some fabulous tickets and the weather was beautiful. It is the last week for the Royals and I was glad to be able to go. Mustard won!
Queequeg wants to be like his little friend, Crusher. So, he asked me to put his giraffe bed on my desk so he can hang out with me as close as he can get. I think he might need a bigger bed, but if I do that it won’t fit on my desk. Flike would like to be on my desk too, but that ain’t gona happen:-)
