Well, well. We spent nearly the full day Sunday on a journey to and from the Pig Rescue farm where Chelsea’s pig, Abby, is now living. Brad and June and Chelsea and Scott welcomed us along on the trip. The farm is in Gerald, Missouri, which is a four-hour drive from Overland Park, so we started down the road early, stopping briefly here and there for this and that.
The farm is a lovely place, even with 147 pot-bellied pigs roaming just about everywhere. The woman who runs the place, Sandy, knows each pig by name and personality and can tell you specific details about their health and care. She really cares for her pigs. The feed bill alone comes to about $15,000 a year!
We stayed for about two and a half hours, visiting with Abby and all of the other pigs that were interested in us. Then it was time to leave so we made the four-hour drive back home, making several annoying phone calls to people to help pass the time.
Here is June doing her St. Francis thing. Can you believe that she once had a pig larger than these living in her home?
It sure was a fun day. but what do you mean annoying phone calls – i don’t remember that part!!
it looks like Abby still recognizes Chelsea.
I had a wonderful day. The car ride was fun and it was great to see Abby!
[...] A week and a day ago my parents, Paul, Libby, Scott and I visited Abby. I had a wonderful time. It was great to see Abby. It made me miss her. Maybe one day I will get her back. Sandy says as Abby gets older she needs more attention then she can give her, and if I ever want Abby back I can have her. To read about our great day you can visit Paul’s blog. We had fun and laughed a lot.
